Governor Ned Lamont announced the statewide expansion of a program geared to make free online learning licenses available to recipients of unemployment insurance, including those impacted by the economic fallout of the COVID-19 health crisis. The SkillUp CT program expands access to online course work from a leading provider for thousands of Connecticut residents. This initiative hopes to enable recently laid-off workers to upgrade their skills and earn industry-recognized certifications to help them back into the workforce.
The State of Connecticut is launching a free, online job training program, SKILLUP for people who are unemployed during the COVID-19 pandemic. About 5,000 courses are available in areas like IT, business analysis, customer service, project management, digital literacy, and more. You may need to prove your unemployment status, residency in CT, or the fact that you became unemployed as a result of or during the COVID-19 pandemic.
